Znojmo, November 12, 2009 – for the first time in history, a train towed by an electric locomotive came from Vienna to Znojmo.  The arrival of this ceremonial train ended the project of “Šatov – Znojmo Route Electrification”.  However, this official train was not designed for the public; ordinary passengers could take this Austrian electric train set for the first time on December 5, 2009, when Austrian Railways organized the opening for the general public.
This electrified and reconstructed route allows the direct connection between ‘Vienna’ and ‘Znojmo’ including higher traveling speeds.  The ‘Znojmo’ railway station was newly equipped, inter alia, with modern passenger platforms and information system; the project also included technically demanding reconstruction of the Znojmo viaduct across the ‘Dyje’ River.

During the 2nd half of the year 2007 a new painting shop was installed and the trial operation started in the production centre in Vlkov. The new equipment uses a new technology of the application of surface finishing.

A new project of České Velenice – České Budějovice line electrification, 1st stage was ceremonialy opened in the Gomel hotel in České Budějovice on November 8th, 2006. The aim of this project is the improvment of the railway transport between Czech Republic and Austria. After finishing the construction electrified sections between České Budějovice and state border (Gmünd) will be connected.

Last year, our company was demanded to carry out an important of the project to build a trolleybus route in Pilsen – ‘Borská Pole’.  Elektrizace železnic Praha won this order as a subcontractor of Metrostav a.s.  This job order included, in addition to the two above-mentioned building works – overhead trolley line and underground cable line, also seven operation sets of technologies in the Karlov traction converter substation.

In September, earth works relating to works of “overhead trolley line and underground cable line” were commenced, in November, the technological part of the project was started to be installed in the newly built converter substation, all these having a scheduled time of completion and handover of the work near the end of February 2010.  These deadlines were fulfilled and the trial operation started in March 2010.

Lysá nad Labem – Milovice – on December 10, 2009, the route from ‘Lysá nad Labem’ to ‘Milovice’ was recommissioned at an opening ceremony, where the overhead contact line, being built by our company together with the new track substructure and superstructure, was connected to power supply to put the first electric train-set in motion.  The first electric train, which passed through the newly electrified track in this ceremonial drive, was City Elephant, which will continue to operate regularly on this track also in future.

The ceremonial ride was participated by representatives of the client (SŽDC s.o.), of suppliers and contractors, representatives of European Funds, Czech Railways, State Traffic Infrastructure Fund, Ministry of Transport, representatives of regions, mayors of the City of Lysá nad Labem and Milovice, and many others.

The train service on a newly reconstructed electrified railway line Šatov - Retz was ceremonialy launched in Šatov on December 11th, 2006. Representatives of Czech and Austrian towns and villages were present at the event.

 On November 11th EŽ Praha a.s. Horce Racing Day took part in Prague Velka Chuchle. There were 7 races on the schedule, 2 of them were steeple-chase - the most important races of the day. The main one, Great Prague Steeple-Chase was won by 6 years old brown horse called Blizzard from ZZN Polabí - Luka with jockey Vaclav Luka.
